Praise hands for Mattel: The toy brand’s newest Barbie lineup is “Inspiring Women,” in honor of International Women’s Day.
In a press release, the company announced the launch of the collection as a move to commemorate historic female role models in all industries, and to “continue to show girls they can be anything.” It will feature 17 women who made major contributions to society in their fields. Who’s on the list? Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, NASA mathematician Katherine Johnson and groundbreaking aviator Amelia Earhart, to name a few.
The 17 dolls will be available in stores, and although there’s no launch date yet, we’re crossing our fingers that it’s soon.
Along with the Inspiring Women collection, Barbie will also introduce 14 new women in its Shero Program (which honors modern-day boundary breakers with a doll in their likeness) like Chloe Kim, Patty Jenkins and Bindi Irwin.
We can’t think of a better toy for your aspiring scientist/astronaut/Olympian/p
