Congratulations are in order for Princess Sofia and her husband, Prince Carl Philip of Sweden, who is fourth in line to the throne.
This week, the Swedish royals revealed that they’re expecting their third child together. The couple announced the exciting news on their official Instagram account (@kungahuset) by sharing a never-before-seen portrait of the proud parents.
The black-and-white photo features Princess Sofia and Prince Carl Philip embracing each other as they smile for the camera. The pic was taken next to a large mirror, creating a dreamy reflection of the royal couple.
The caption read, “Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia have the great pleasure of announcing that they are expecting their third child.”
In a joint statement, Princess Sofia and Prince Carl Philip revealed that they couldn’t be more thrilled to give their two children—Prince Alexander (4) and Prince Gabriel (3)—another sibling.
“We are happy and expectant and look forward to welcoming our third child, a sibling to Prince Alexander and Prince Gabriel. A new little member of our family,” they said.
The Swedish royal family confirmed that Princess Sofia is doing “well.” She’s currently in her second trimester, so we can expect the royal baby to arrive in late March/early April 2021.
