Here at PureWow, we're not ones to pick favorites, especially when it comes to the royals. However, I came across a new poll by YouGov, an international online research group, that revealed the most popular royal—and surprisingly it wasn't who I expected. As of August 2025, 74 percent of Britons favor Prince William.
The Most Popular British Royal Is Not Who I Expected
What a surprise

I thought it was going to be the Kate Middleton, but the Princess of Wales is not far behind her husband. She holds the second spot with 71 percent of people having a positive opinion of her. And the other royal making the top three? Princess Anne with 70 percent.

The poll also has King Charles III in the fifth spot with 59 percent, Duchess Sophie in the eight spot with 50 percent and Queen Camilla behind her with 43 percent.

The one thing I can't agree with is how low Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are on the list. The poll shows the Duke of Sussex ranks 12 with 28 percent, while Markle is in 13th place with 20 percent. I like to think it has more to do with the fact that they're not actively part of the royal family anymore.

Research also shows that British people in general have major support for the royals. According to YouGov, six in ten Britons have a positive view of both the family as a whole (with 62 percent) and the underlying institution of the monarchy (58 percent).
