Hold the door, because we have big news from the Game of Thrones realm.
The author and mastermind behind the series just inked a deal with Warner Bros. to bring his children’s novel, The Ice Dragon, to life as an animated movie, according to Deadline. The book is also medieval fantasy, but doesn’t take place in the Seven Kingdoms (it was written in 1980, long before Game of Thrones was even a twinkle in a raven’s third eye). It follows the story of a young girl, Adara, who becomes friends with an ice dragon (but it’s not Viserion—RIP…kind of).
Martin has signed on to produce, but no word on the release date.
We’re just praying to the old gods and the new that it comes out post season eight so we have something to ebb the flow of tears from the gaping Westeros-size void we’ll have in our lives.
