Ever since Jack Pearson (Milo Ventimiglia) met his untimely demise on This Is Us, fans have had some very real abandonment issues. So much so that widespread panic hit the internet regardingthe death of another character: Beth Pearson (Susan Kelechi Watson). *Hyperventilates thinking about losing another Pearson*

Rumors about Beth’s death started thanks to the closing moments of the show’s “Super Bowl Sunday” episode, in which Randall (Sterling K. Brown) visits a grown-up Tess (Iantha Richardson) without Beth. Eagle-eyed fans also noticed that his hands, most notably the one that usually wearshis wedding ring, were cropped out of the shot. Cue the mass speculation.

Thankfully, the This Is Us powers that be confirmed we can all breathe easy…for now. Isaac Aptaker, executive producer and co-showrunner of the hit drama, told Glamour that the rumors about Beth’s death are completely unfounded.

“I just heard about it this morning. I don’t know where that came from,” Aptaker said. “It’s nothing we’ve talked about in our writers room, so unless there’s some fan fiction making its way to set and getting filmed, I don’t think that’s in the works for Beth!…Beth’s OK.”

Phew! We haven’t felt this relieved since we found out Jack might be at Kate’s wedding.
