Diamonds are forever, sure, but engagement ring trends are always evolving—and swinging back around, for that matter. Case in point: The asscher cut.
This ripple-effect, square-shaped diamond was first introduced to the jewelry market in 1902. But it wasn't until the roaring, deco-tastic 1920s that it became the hot-ticket bling choice. And now, after falling out of favor for a casual century, they're back in high demand. Yup, according to Pinterest's 2018 Trends report, searches for asscher cut engagement rings are up 1,344 percent over last year. Whoa.
We've come to think of this style as an unexpected twist on the ubiquitous Emerald cut: clean, luxe and—ironic, given it's backstory—rather modern. We like.
