So far on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal tour, they’ve met koalas and received tiny Uggs. But the most wholesome part of their trip thus far is Harry’s reunion with his 98-year-old Australian friend Daphne Dunne.
During a meet and greet at the Sydney Opera House today, Harry ran into Dunne, a royal well-wisher he’s met twice previously on visits to Australia. He reportedly greeted her with a big hug, and she congratulated him on the “good news.” Eager to introduce his wife to his friend, he invited the pregnant Duchess of Sussex over. She and Dunne exchanged pleasantries while holding hands and when Dunne congratulated Meghan, she replied, “Thank you! What an exciting time. Yes, I’ve been so happy.”
Dunne, proving age does equate to wisdom, told Markle her pregnancy is “marvelous” and “just what Harry needs.”
As they said their goodbyes, Harry and Meghan both kissed Dunne on the cheek and, in exchange, she gave them a thoughtful card. Markle called it “fantastic” and added “hopefully the next time we see you we’ll have our little one with us.”
We sure hope so.
