As both a royal enthusiast and organization freak, I appreciate that the royal family also has a thing for order and protocol. Judging from a new documentary, Prince Charles takes the I-have-a-routine-and-I’m-sticking-to-it cake and honestly, props.
Prepare to be amazed (and if you’re a perfectionist like me, maybe even jealous), because the heir to the throne has his shoelaces ironed every single morning. But wait, that’s not all.
Princess Diana’s former butler, Paul Burrell, revealed in the new Amazon Prime documentary Serving the Royals: Inside the Firm, “His pajamas are pressed every morning, his shoelaces are pressed flat with an iron, the bath plug has to be in a certain position and the water temperature has to be just tepid.” (All fair requests, IMO.)
Burrell went on to claim that the heir apparent also asks that one inch of toothpaste be squeezed onto his toothbrush each morning and admitted the Clarence House staff calls him the “Pampered Prince.” Call me controversial, but I think his “pampered” methods are cutting-edge.
I mean, who wouldn’t want their shoelaces ironed? Until minutes ago, I didn’t realize this was even an option. And there’s no denying this is so extra it makes Mariah Carey look low-key, but still. But if I’m being honest, I’m only judging because I’m kinda jeal.
Let this be proof that Prince Charles is not only a future king, but also a sharp shoelaced trendsetter.
