After five kids, it’s safe to say that Chip and Joanna Gaines are parenting experts. Even so—with eight years between their (formerly) youngest, Emmie, and their baby, Crew—life with a newborn is taking some getting used to.
Joanna opened up to People about the age gap between Crew and his siblings, Drake (13), Duke (10), Ella (11) and Emmie, saying, “We think about things like when Emmie goes off to college this little one will only be ten. It’s just crazy to think how wide that gap is, but Chip just loves hanging out with the kids and it’s just such a sweet thing.” Yup, that sounds adorable.
She went on to reflect about how the time between her pregnancies has allowed her to experience raising a human in a whole new way: “I have forgotten almost everything, so it feels brand-new. I tell Chip that I feel 25, and in my mind there’s something about it that gives me an extra kick in my step. Forty and pregnant…who would have ever thought that was going to happen? But I’ll take it!”
Hey, anything is possible with the energy of a 25-year-old. And after all—isn’t parenting kind of like riding a bike? For your sake, Gaines family, we sure hope so.
