Just because he starred in Crazy Rich Asians doesn’t mean Henry Golding is above getting starstruck.
The actor recently sat down for an interview with E! News and discussed his lesser-known role in the upcoming film A Simple Favor, which stars Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick. Since he watched the two actresses “growing up,” Golding revealed that he was super nervous to work with the star-studded cast.
“It was quite a small set, really. The main cast was four or five people, so the proximity, really in this filmmaking, was so much closer,” he said. “It’s easy to kind of get very nervous about it. And there were certain days where I was like, ‘What am I doing? Why am I here?’”
A Simple Favor is based on the namesake novel by Darcey Bell and tells the story of a young woman named Emily (Lively) who mysteriously goes missing, sending her new friend Stephanie (Kendrick) on a mission to find answers. According to Golding, the casting department couldn’t have chosen a better duo.
“Those two girls are 110 percent, on and off the camera. And that, I’ve heard, can be sometimes fleeting or rather rare in the industry,” he added. “To have people who, even when they’re standing on the side, give everything to get the best performance out of you—and they’ve been doing it for so long—really is a testament to who they are as actresses and why they’re so successful. I love them to death.”
Us, too, Henry. Us, too. A Simple Favor will hit theaters on September 14.
