Legendary actress Dame Helen Mirren may be 72 years old, but she’s not interested in hearing the phrase “anti-aging.” In fact, she’d much rather have it disappear all together.
In an interview with Allure, which recently deemed the use of “anti-aging” as off-limits, Mirren proclaimed that she doesn’t believe in the phrase. The Oscar-winning actress, who is also the face of L’Oréal Paris, said, “This word ‘anti-aging’—we know we’re getting older. You just want to look and feel as great as you can on a daily basis.” Dame, right!
Mirren's resolve to break free from the chains of “anti-aging” reminds us that the term itself insinuates aging is something to ward off, when in reality, it’s a beautiful inevitability. We're not about to throw away our night cream any time soon, but we will happily jump on this Helen Mirren truth bandwagon.
