Becoming a parent means plenty of sleepless nights, lots of chubby cheek cuddles and, in most cases, editing your lexicon so your four-year-old doesn’t utter that four-letter word in preschool. But the biggest off-limits word in Blake Lively and Ryan Reynold’s household? Nope, not a curse word; it's the term bossy.
In a recent interview with Glamour, Lively shared why she and her hubby have resolved not to use the word “bossy” around their daughters, Ines (11 months) and James (two).
“We’ve joked that my daughter is bossy,” Lively shared. “But my husband said, ‘I don’t ever want to use that word again. You’ve never heard a man called bossy.” OK, Reynolds = woke...and we ain't mad at it.
Lively continued on to explain that the word, when applied to a woman, typically carries a negative connotation but that (frustratingly) the same nuance is not applicable when referring to a man. Because of this, she and Reynolds outlawed the term from their household and strive to be even more conscious in their effort to raise strong daughters.
