Your grandma is known for her chocolate-chip pancakes and your mom makes the best mac-and-cheese on the block. Your legacy? Mixing the best Manhattan they’ve ever had to top it all off. Bartender Young Kim of The Flatiron Room is here to show you how it’s done (but it takes a lot more than just a great bottle of whiskey).

What You Need:
 - 2 dashes bitters
 - 1/2 ounces dry vermouth
 - 1/2 ounces sweet vermouth
 - 2 ounces whiskey
 - ice
 - Maraschino cherries
 - wood chips
 - a smoking gun (seriously)

Step 1: Combine the bitters, dry vermouth, sweet vermouth and whiskey in a glass. Add ice and stir 100 times. 

Step 2: Pour the drink into a glass and add a Maraschino cherry.

Step 3: Here’s where things get really fancy. Break out your smoking gun (see, we weren’t kidding) and wood chips. Direct the smoke into the glass, then cover with a coaster to let the smoke infuse.

Step 4: Remove the coaster just before serving.
