New ‘Yesterday’ Trailer Imagines a World Where No One Remembers The Beatles

From “I Want to Hold Your Hand” to “Let It Be,” we can name just about every Beatles song known to man. But what would happen if everyone simply forgot about the iconic British rock band?

Etalon Films just dropped the first official trailer for Yesterday, which tells the story of a man who’s the only person in the world who remembers The Beatles. (Yep, just let that sink in.)

In the trailer, we’re introduced to Jack (Himesh Patel), a man who’s involved in a biking accident. The problem? It wasn’t any ordinary snafu. In fact, there was an international power outage at that exact moment, causing everyone to forget about The Beatles.

Of course, this becomes evident when Jack casually sings “Yesterday” in front of his friends, who are wowed by the beautiful song.

After Googling John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and George Harrison, Jack comes up with nothing but images of bugs and popes. So, he uses the band’s iconic repertoire to launch himself to international stardom, which—to no surprise—comes with a price.

Yesterday is directed by Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire) and written by Richard Curtis (Love Actually). In addition to Patel, the film also stars Lily James, Ana de Armas, Kate McKinnon, Lamorne Morris, Ed Sheeran, Sophia Di Martino and Joel Fry.

Yesterday will hit theaters on June 2.
