Raise a Glass: This New Wine Lovers’ Advent Calendar Has a Mini Bottle for Every. Single. Day.

Growing up, it was always a thrill to pull out the Advent calendar from the decorations box and hang it on the wall as my mom and I prepped the house for the holidays. Each day for the 24 days leading up to Christmas, I’d get to pluck a teeny little hand-sewn ornament in the shape of a present from a tiny felt pocket and go hang it on our tree.

Now that I’m older, Advent calendars are still a thing, but what’s in them is way more exciting than our little present-ornaments (sorry, Mom). There’s Aldis wine and cheese calendarsBaileys Irish Creme calendar and now: a Wine Lovers Advent Calendar. (Can I get a holiday hallelujah, people?!)

The calendar, available at MacysLaithwaites Wine and WSJwines.com, will cost a pretty penny (retails for $130), but it seems pretty worth it when you think about how much wine it actually is.

Each little numbered door contains a quarter-bottle of world-class wine (think: a vintage Bordeaux, a double-gold Champagne and a five-star estate Rioja, according to the item description). With 24 days, that’s exactly six bottles of wine in total…meaning you’re paying about $22 per bottle (plus you’re getting the adorable calendar holder and automatic portion control for free!).

Or drink a few days at a time (I’m not judging, and neither is Mom). You know what they say: The merlot, the merrier.
