Great News: ‘Abbott Elementary’ Is Coming Back for Season 2 This Fall

Who’s ready for the new school year? Our favorite teachers at Abbott Elementary sure are.

Not only did ABC confirm the breakout comedy series will be returning this fall, but it also has a new timeslot. Per Deadline, the show will be given the Wednesday 9 PM spot when the second season returns, which was previously held by Modern Family.

Yesterday, the show’s creator, Quinta Brunson, celebrated the news by reposting a tweet (taken from the page @filmupdates) and sharing the updated timeslot for all her followers to see.

In an earlier tweet, Brunson announced that she already started writing the storyline for season two. The 32-year-old actress had a hard time containing her excitement, writing, “Ah. writing the first Abbott season 2 script. F*ck, I couldn’t be happier.”

Before the first season ended, the network renewed the show for a second season. Thanks to Abbott Elementary’s very own school principal, Ava Coleman (played by Janelle James), we learned of the news through a personalized message posted to the show’s official IG page.

Abbott Elementary follows Janine (Brunson), a second-grade teacher working at the Philadelphia public school. Like the rest of the faculty, she strives to give her students the necessary tools to succeed. Other stars include Tyler James Williams (Gregory Eddie), Chris Perfetti We (Jacob Hill), Lisa Ann Walter (Melissa Schemmenti) and Sheryl Lee Ralph (Barbara Howard).

Excuse us while keep refreshing all the Abbott Elementary social media pages, hoping for an official release date soon.
