‘Only Murders in the Building’ Is Returning This June—Check Out the Trailer for Season 2

If your life has felt like it was missing a little bit of mystery, that's because there haven't been any new episodes of Only Murders in the Building for quite some time. The hit Hulu series starring Selena Gomez, Steve Martin and Martin Short is making its grand return in only a few months, and the season 2 release date was announced in a brand-new video from the show's leading trio.

On the official Only Murders Instagram account, they posted a teaser that revealed season 2 will premiere on June 28 (and we'll be impatiently counting down the days until then). In the clip, the actors keep joking around from inside an elevator, forcing them to reshoot the announcement.

“You're probably wondering when season 2 of Only Murders in the Building is going to hit the airwaves,” Martin says in the video. “I was wondering that too,” Short chimes in. However, the stars run out of time before they can say it, and the release date is shown on the elevator doors as they close.

As seen in the video, our three favorite podcasters will return for season 2, and we can assume that actor Aaron Dominguez (who plays Oscar) will reprise his role as well. Show creator John Hoffman told Deadline that there was more in store for Oscar and Mabel (Gomez). “I think it’s a really complicated relationship that he and Mabel have and it’s going to be interesting to see where it goes,” the creator said.

We can also expect the return of stars like Tina Fey, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Jane Houdyshell and more. Meanwhile, the trailer for season 2 shows the introduction of new stars to the show, like Amy Schumer and Cara Delevingne.

When we left off at the end of season 1, Mabel had found the body of the Arconia's board president, Bunny (Houdyshell), after Charles (Martin) and Oscar received a mysterious warning text. Then, at the very end of the finale, our three leads are led out of the building in handcuffs, with suspicion suddenly being cast upon all of them.

We can assume that season 2 will pick up right where the first installment left off, with the true crime trio now investigating the murder of Bunny. Showrunner Hoffman has said, “Our trio is in the hot seat at the end of season 1. They have to reckon with their relationship with Bunny in the days prior to what happens at the end of the season and there’s a lot that went down...There’s a lot there we start peeling back that’s built around what happened at the end of season 1 and leading into 2. It gets more complicated and more fun in weird ways. It also puts pressure on them to solve the case.”

Season 2 of Only Murders in the Building will premiere on Hulu on June 28. The episodes will be released on a weekly basis.
