The royal family members have a lot of different hobbies, from Prince Harry's love of polo to Kate Middleton's affinity for photography. But a new Instagram post from Prince Charles just revealed that he and his younger sister, Princess Anne, took up a special hobby when they were little kids: gardening.
That's right, apparently the royal siblings maintained a vegetable patch when they were little. This tidbit of their lives was shared in an interview Prince Charles did for the BBC podcast The Poet Laureate Has Gone To His Shed.
While the episode won't premiere until later tonight, a sneak peek was shared on the Clarence House Instagram account, where they said, “This evening at 7:15 p.m., The Prince of Wales will appear as the final guest of the season on ‘The Poet Laureate Has Gone To His Shed’. Recorded last month at HRH’s barn in Llwynywermod, The Prince spoke with @simonarmitage_official on themes of nature, creativity and inspiration.”
They offered a quote from the Prince of Wales, where he said, “For me, a central part of life is to have that connection with the world outside.”
It was also in the caption that they shared the little known fact about Prince Charles and Princess Anne's childhood hobby. They wrote, “Reflecting on childhood memories with nature, The Prince recalled: ‘My sister and I had a little vegetable patch in the back of some border somewhere. We had great fun trying to grow tomatoes rather unsuccessfully..’
While they didn't offer any other details, it was enough to grab our interest and the interest of other royal followers. “Can’t wait to see [the] Prince’s new appearance!
It’s so nice that he mentioned Princess Anne here,” one user wrote. Another added, “It's lovely to hear childhood memories from The Prince.” One user even joked, “Our garden is very unsuccessful too, but we still enjoy it.”
We will definitely be tuning in to find out more details from the prince on this failed vegetable garden.
