While undergoing medical treatment for his own cancer diagnosis (which was revealed by Buckingham Palace back in February), King Charles marked his return to public duties by visiting a cancer treatment center in London—and he had his wife, Queen Camilla, right by his side for support.

Earlier this morning, the royal family shared a video of the 75-year-old monarch meeting the doctors and staff workers at the University College Hospital Macmillan Cancer Centre.

In a short clip shared on the royal family’s Instagram Story, His Majesty appeared in good spirits as he shook hands and greeted well-wishers at the facility. The video caption read, “The King has made his return to public duties with a visit to UCH @macmillancancer Centre in London.”

King Charles and Queen Camilla were also photographed leaving the center together.

One photo shows the royal couple smiling as they greet royal admirers while each holding a bouquet in one hand. For the outing, the monarch sported a navy blue suit with a pink tie and a blue collared shirt. Meanwhile, the 76-year-old queen opted for a vibrant green and black leopard print dress.

Shortly after the king’s visit, the University College Hospital Macmillan Cancer Centre shared their support for the royal’s public appearance on their official Instagram page. While posting a photo that reads, “Supporting friends and colleagues returning to work after cancer diagnosis,” the London-based facility took a moment to praise the monarch for his continued effort to call attention to cancer and the importance of receiving treatment.

In the caption, they wrote, “As His Majesty The King returns to public-facing duties, we know many people with cancer will understand that choosing to return to work can be a complex decision and can mean very different things to different people.”

Last week, Buckingham Palace announced King Charles’s return to work on the royal family’s Instagram. Along with a stunning portrait of the king and queen, the message read, “His Majesty The King will shortly return to public-facing duties after a period of treatment and recuperation following his recent cancer diagnosis.”
