King Charles & the Queen Consort Wear Coordinating Outfits During First Official Outing Since Queen Elizabeth’s Funeral

King Charles III and Camilla Parker Bowles, Queen Consort, just embarked on their first joint engagement since the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.

For their venture, the couple headed to Dunfermline in Scotland to celebrate its new status as a city. Dunfermline was one of several places that received an upgrade during the late Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee back in June.

While there, the new monarch sported a teal and blue kilt, while his other half donned a coordinating forest green coat.

iTV News reporter Lizzie Robinson shared a video of the couple arriving in the Scottish city and wrote, “The King and Queen Consort are due in Dunfermline shortly for their first official engagement since the end of Royal Mourning. They will attend an official council meeting at the City Chambers and visit Dunfermline Abbey to mark Dunfermline becoming a City.”

Since the queen's passing, King Charles and the Queen Consort have made a number of trips together. The pair visited Scotland and Wales where the king conducted audiences and received motions of condolence. Meanwhile, the pair also engaged in impromptu walkabouts in order to greet mourners.

Queen Elizabeth II's funeral took place on September 19, and it was attended by all four of her children, as well as all eight of her grandchildren. The main service was held at Westminster Abbey, and then the late monarch's body was laid to rest at the King George VI Memorial Chapel.

Immediately following the news of the queen's death, King Charles shared a message to Instagram, which said: “The death of my beloved Mother, Her Majesty The Queen, is a moment of the greatest sadness for me and all members of my family.”

He added, “We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished Sovereign and a much-loved Mother. I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the Realms and the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world. During this period of mourning and change, my family and I will be comforted and sustained by our knowledge of the respect and deep affection in which The Queen was so widely held.”

On September 27, the period of mourning officially ended for the royal family, and it was marked with a message on Instagram that read, “The period of Royal Mourning following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth has now ended. The Royal Family account will continue to reflect the work of The King, The Queen Consort and other members of The Royal Family, as well as remembering the life and work of Queen Elizabeth.”

We look forward to seeing more royal outings as they resume their official duties.
