Cinephiles, rejoice! One of our favorite winning films from the 2018 Oscars is getting a sequel.
Call Me by Your Name director Luca Guadagnino revealed he and author André Aciman, who wrote the novel on which the movie is based, have been brainstorming a follow-up to the film.
While walking the Oscars red carpet, Guadagnino told USA Today, “I’m already conceiving the story with André Aciman, and it’s gonna happen five or six years afterwards.”
The director continued to share his plans for Elio (Timothée Chalamet) and Oliver (Armie Hammer), saying, “It’s gonna be a new movie, a different tone. You’re gonna see a lot of the East Coast of America…They’re gonna go around the world.”
When can we expect this film? Well, Guadagnino would like Chalamet to be about 25 when it’s filmed, so we have at least three more years.
