As lovely as winter has been, we’re ready to shake things up and slip into something a little warmer. So we couldn’t help but ask celebrity makeup artist Monika Blunder, who works on Amanda Seyfried, Kate Hudson, Megan Fox and more, what she’s envisioning for spring and summer beauty trends. Blunder told PureWow during a Celebeauty Sit-Down that this year will be all about neon makeup.
But this isn’t your standard ’80s blue eye shadow look. The neon makeup of today is cooler than ever. Blunder specifically notes that neon eyes in particular, as modeled on Seyfried above, are “coming back for sure.” It makes sense, as we’ve seen neon shades popping up on runways and all over Instagram.
To replicate this exact look, choose a highly pigmented bright hue and cover your lids with it up to the crease. If you’re really in the mood to make your eyes pop, consider brushing neon shadow underneath your lower lashes too. Hey, you can even have a winged liner moment like the Art of Racing in the Rain star.
In addition to neon eyes, Blunder says, “Wet, glossy lips are always a summer staple. I also have a feeling that metallic will be making some appearances once the sun starts shining again.”
When it comes to products, she gravitates toward Clé de Peau. But on the clean beauty front, she loves Kosas, Tata Harper, Goop, Osea (“especially their face mists ($38)!”) and Weleda.
