Prince Harry Gets Candid About Relationship with Prince William: ‘My Brother Can’t Leave That System’

Prince Harry is opening up about leaving “the system” and how his decision affected his relationship with his brother, Prince William.

Today, CBS released a never-before-seen clip from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey.

In the video, Prince Harry discusses his relationship with Prince William. “Look, it’s been really hard. Because I’m trying—I am part of—I’m part of the system with them. I always have been,” he says in the clip. “But I guess there is—I’m very aware of this—that my brother can’t leave that system. But I have.”

When Winfrey asks if Prince William wants to leave the system, Prince Harry responds, “I don’t know. I can’t speak for him. But, with that relationship and that control and the fear by the U.K. tabloids, it’s a very toxic environment. But I will always be there for him. I will always be there for my family. And, as I said, I’ve tried to help them to see what has happened.”

Oprah with Meghan and Harry: A CBS Primetime Special aired on CBS over the weekend. It didn’t take long for Queen Elizabeth to respond to the couple’s claims with a statement, which read: “The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan. The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.”

Fingers crossed we hear from William himself soon.
