Prince Harry Turns 38 Today While Mourning Queen Elizabeth with Royal Family

Prince Harry officially turns the big 3-8 today. And while this normally would be a day of celebration, this year it’s of course bittersweet.

It’s only been one week since the passing of his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II. The funeral will take place this Monday at Westminster Abbey. Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, are currently staying in the United Kingdom until the ceremony.

Earlier this week, the Duke of Sussex released a special tribute dedicated to the queen. The statement, which was released on the Archewell website, was accompanied by a black-and-white photo of Harry with the monarch.

The message read: “In celebrating the life of my grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen—and in mourning her loss—we are all reminded of the guiding compass she was to so many in her commitment to service and duty. She was globally admired and respected. Her unwavering grace and dignity remained true throughout her life and now her everlasting legacy.”

“Let us echo the words she spoke after the passing of her husband, Prince Philip, words which can bring comfort to all of us now: ‘Life, of course, consists of final partings as well as first meetings,’” he added.

Harry concluded the statement by thanking the queen for her guidance and leadership, writing,  “Thank you for your commitment to service. Thank you for your sound advice. Thank you for your infectious smile. We, too, smile knowing that you and grandpa are reunited now, and both together in peace.”

Sending all of our love to Prince Harry on his birthday and the entire royal family during this time of mourning.
