Brad Pitt Joked About Prince Harry at the BAFTAs…in Front of Prince William & Kate Middleton

Brad Pitt technically didn’t attend the BAFTAs, but he made waves at the British version of the Oscars anyway.

The 56-year-old Once Upon a Time in Hollywood star skipped the award show, which was held last night at London’s Royal Albert Hall, but he didn’t miss the chance to poke fun at Britain’s relationship status or Prince Harry’s royal departure.

Pitt, who couldn’t attend the ceremony “due to family obligations,” asked his costar Margot Robbie to read his acceptance speech if he won Best Supporting Actor for the Quentin Tarantino-directed film (which he did).

Robbie took the stage and kicked things off with a joke. “He starts by saying, ‘Hey, Britain. Heard you just became single. Welcome to the club! Wishing you the best for the divorce settlement, blah blah blah.’” Oh, boy, Brad.

From there, Robbie went on to read, “‘Thank you to the Academy for this extreme honor.’ He says he’s ‘always been a bit intimidated over here given the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts and the titans that have come before, so this is especially meaningful.’”

She thanked a handful of people on Pitt’s behalf, including one person for their tight jeans on-set (?) and ended with another slightly more envelope-pushing joke.

Robbie read, “He’s gonna name this [award] Harry, because he’s really excited about bringing it back to the states with him.” Mic drop.

Of course, cameras cut to Prince William and Kate Middleton in the audience, who looked both entertained and just a little awkward. You can see the priceless moment in the video above by skipping to 1:55.

Never change, Brad. Never change.
