2026 frontloaded much of the big deal astrology for the year. The first quarter was filled with events with far-reaching implications, coloring much of the next decade. April held its own with an intense pile-up of Aries planets and the major shift of Uranus into Gemini. That brings us to May, the chillest month we’ve had so far this year.
Chill is a relative term, meaning that May isn’t boring or even relaxing, but that its skies are a come down from the intensity we’ve experienced thus far. Like a cool-down after an intense workout or a debriefing after a big event, May has each of us processing and dealing with the changes to our lives that have occurred in recent months. The task is more about accepting a new reality than adjusting to a new normal. Things are not likely to stay ‘normal’ for long, but we do need to think about how to sustain our bodies, minds, hearts and relationships in the face of much of the upheaval going on in the world.
Sustainability is a core concern of Taurus, and a parade of planets moving through the sign this month offers different ways to focus on slowing down, grounding in routine and the natural world and finding gratitude for the little things. Gratitude is one of Taurus’s great virtues, acknowledging what we have in the present moment. Gratitude can steady us from anxiety and future tripping about things that we have little control over.
The Scorpio full moon on the 1st brings an intensity of feeling with it that contains the tumultuous April that just ended. Mercury enters Taurus on the 2nd, turning our minds to focus on Taurean topics: resources, safety and pragmatic matters.
