best worst zodiac partner for virgo

Hi Virgos, you analytical geniuses, you self-sacrificing saints of the zodiac. I see you and your contributions, and I won’t make too big of a fuss, because I know it will trigger major imposter syndrome, even though no one is more real than you. To reward you for all your hard work, I, an astrologer, have compiled my rankings for the most compatible signs in the zodiac for you.

What Your Inner Beyoncé Song Is, Based on Your Zodiac Sign

What Are Virgo’s Personality Traits?

Virgo’s superpowers rest in the zodiac sign’s knack for the analytical. (Think Sherlock Holmes.) No detail escapes them, from the crumbs on your sweater after you’ve chomped your favorite cookie to the way you smile when you’re in love. They’re reliable, pragmatic and structure—all hallmarks of the earth sign—which make Virgos great people to turn to for advice, honest opinions and help with complicated and convoluted tasks. (Read: taxes.) This sign is, however, prone to imposter syndrome and a deep desire for order, often needing a reminder that life is messy.

12. Sagittarius (November 22 - December 21)

Virgos like a realistic partner who can commit, and Sagittarius is neither huge on the realism nor the commitment (sorry, centaurs, I know you love to roam…). It doesn’t mean Sagittariuses don’t make wonderful, long-term partners, but they do desire a measure of independence and flexibility that will ruffle the Virgo’s appetite for order and precision.

11. Leo (July 23 - August 22)

In relationships, Leos love to champion and be championed by their partners. But while Virgos are incredibly supportive, they are not cheerleaders—no way, no how. A Virgo wears no rose-colored glasses; they see their partner’s flaws in HD. But even though a Virgo only criticizes because they care (seriously!), a Leo thrives on enthusiasm and optimism. For these two to truly believe in each other, it will take more than a leap of faith.

10. Aries (March 21 - April 19)

While these two are technically both high energy (Aries in their body, Virgo in their mind), Virgo is tripping over every detail like it’s an SAT question (“If the reservation was at 6:45, and it started raining approximately 15 minutes ago, then my probability models say we’ll never catch a cab, and dinner is futile!”), while Aries wants to Hulk-smash any obstacle in their way, often without a ton of forethought (maybe running to the restaurant without an umbrella was…unwise).

9. Aquarius (January 20 - February 18)

These two signs are intellectuals, and as the zodiac’s Ravenclaws, Aquarius and Virgo should have a lot in common. But while Aquarius loves to provoke others with their hottest take on the daily controversy (we get it, you read The New York Times cover to cover, Aquarius…), Virgo is no fan of arguments for the sake of arguments. Virgos can be hypercritical, but only in service of a greater goal, not simply to show off how perceptive they are. Meanwhile the Aquarius is in it for the love of the game itself, genuinely enjoying a little verbal spar with their partner. Usually, this match ends in a draw.

8. Libra (September 23 - October 22)

The refined Libra is all lightness and romance, and Virgos are like, “but I have to do the dishes.” It’s hard to power an epic love odyssey when someone is constantly reminding you that they need someone (ahem) to snake the drain in the bathtub (but really, the water is building up). It’s not that the Libra is unrealistic or unwilling to work, but they want to enjoy their love story uninterrupted by life’s little messes. Unfortunately the Virgo knows better—life’s little messes always find a way.

7. Gemini (May 21 - June 20)

While these two signs are not elementally compatible (Gemini’s airy ways are too scattered and inconsistent for the practical, earthy Virgo), I can say they both share the gift for gab (picture these two bumping into objects on the street because they are so engrossed in their conversation). Usually the Gemini will babble on before they know what they are trying to say, and the Virgo will quickly analyze those verbal paragraphs and extract the one thing Geminis don’t always have: a point.

6. Pisces (February 20 - March 20)

The opposite sign of a Virgo, these two are ever-locked in attraction…and frustration. Virgos are hyper-realistic, so the dreamy logic of a Pisces may baffle a Virgo, and a Virgo’s harsh feedback might cut a little too deeply for the sensitive Pisces (“I’m sorry I implied that Google search was smarter than you!”). But these two are some of the most devoted, thoughtful, detail-oriented people, and if they can get the balance right between emotion and reason, it’s an epic match.

5. Scorpio (October 23 - November 21)

Virgos love a good routine (you don’t get that good at army-folding long-sleeve tees without putting in the 10,000 hours), and a Scorpio in love will show up for their partner consistently over time (read: 10,000 hours of holding hands, deep talks, picking each other up from the airport, etc.). Look, it’s simple: a Virgo loves excellence, and a Scorpio is dedicated to their craft, which means that these two become virtuosos at loving each other.

4. Virgo (August 23 - September 22)

Trust me when I say the witty banter between this two is fire. Virgos have one of the greatest gifts for language in the zodiac. These two know how to communicate to get things done, and they’d sweep the floor with any other zodiac pairing in a race to build an IKEA desk together. When two Virgos communicate, it’s not just about getting to know each other, but also about moving forward through life as a team. Together, they are an unstoppable force (especially when it comes to assembling IKEA furniture!).

3. Capricorn (December 22 - January 19)

Capricorns and Virgos both appreciate competence, and these are two of the most capable signs in the zodiac. For a Virgo, an organized sock drawer might be more romantic than a bouquet of pink roses (although both is best...), and a Capricorn’s efficiency is a serious turn-on (yes, chores can be sexy). But it's not just work with these two. When they are in love, they devote all their talents to the relationship. And like everything else they do, the results are excellent.

2. Taurus (April 20 - May 20)

Virgos love to serve, and Tauruses love to be served. But what makes this match more than one-sided is that the Taurus will protect and nurture their own like a mob boss (but, like, a sweet one), and the Virgo secretly loves being adored (but at home, where it’s safe). These two will cherish each other and never get sick of doing it (aww).

1. Cancer (June 22 - July 22)

The nurturing Cancer can soothe the anxious Virgo like no other, and it's not all talk. They bring an emotional depth and commitment to their relationships that neutralizes Virgo neuroticism (they didn’t wait until you asked for a back rub, they just did it), allowing both to be their most uninhibited selves with each other. And Virgo’s attention to detail means thoughtful gifts (cupcakes from that bakery you went to on your first date) that will warm a Cancer’s nostalgic and romantic heart.
