This Video of Prince William Racing a Car Is the Best Thing We’ve Seen Today

Just because Prince William is second in line to the British throne doesn’t mean he can’t get down and dirty.

Over the weekend, the Duke of Cambridge, 38, visited the Knockhill Circuit in Scotland, where he drove a sustainable race car around a bumpy dirt track.

In the video, Prince William prepares to test drive the pure-electric car. The vehicle in question is the 550bhp Odyssey 21 four-wheel drive machine, which debuted in Saudi Arabia last month. After getting behind the wheel, the royal races around the track, drifting as the wheels try (and fail) to grip the mud.

Prince William laughs at his driving skills, saying, “I clipped the chicane at the end. Just touched the end of it.” And then adds, “That was awesome. Loved that.”

The caption describes the purpose of the visit: “Sustainable…motor racing?! @ExtremeELive are working to positively change the dial on climate change, with their electric vehicles being charged using zero-emission energy.”

It continues, “The Duke founded the @EarthshotPrize in 2020, which aims to discover and scale the best solutions to help repair our planet over the next ten years—seeing projects like Extreme E demonstrates just how innovative solutions that can help us repair the planet can and do exist. Look out for more on this later this week… [lightning emoji].”

The outing took place during Prince William’s royal tour of Scotland. The Duke of Cambridge recently embarked on the multi-day excursion, where he was later joined by his wife, Kate Middleton. The entire itinerary is focused on raising awareness about climate change.

Prince William’s ear-to-ear smile says it all.
