Prince William Just Tried His Hand at Acting (and Honestly He's Not Half Bad)

Prince William is showing off his acting skills. The Duke of Cambridge kicked off the week by sharing a new teaser for his upcoming Earthshot Prize Awards.

On Monday, Will posted a video on the Kensington Palace Instagram page featuring hosts Clara Amfo and Dermot O'Leary walking up to the prince's door and chatting about the upcoming award show, which is set to air on October 17.

“So, we’re hosting the biggest environmental event awards ever, featuring Cold Play, Ed Sheeran, Shawn Mendes,” O'Leary reveals in the footage before Amfo adds, “And someone else.” The duo then makes their way up the front steps of a home. When the door opens, the 39-year-old royal appears and says, “Hello! Shall we? Anyone fancy a cup of tea?”

While acting clearly isn’t his day job, we have to give William some props as the video was a pretty clever way to announce the exciting celebrity lineup just days before the highly-anticipated event.

The duke’s Earthshot Prize offers $65 million to provide “solutions to the world’s greatest environmental problems” over the next decade. The initiative (which we first learned about in 2020) is the result of two years of work by the royal and The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. The mission? Reward those who are making a difference in climate change.

The show will be broadcast to a global audience—on BBCOne and Discovery on Facebook—and will celebrate the global finalists before awarding the first five winners of the Earthshot Prize. The top winners will each receive £1 million to scale their solutions.

Tune in to the event this Sunday at 8 p.m. We’ll see you there, Shawn.
