Birthday tributes have been pouring in as Prince William celebrates his 40th birthday today.

Various members of the royal family have been posting heartfelt messages to the Duke of Cambridge, honoring his special day. Among them, his father Prince Charles shared a sweet tribute to his son, and let’s just say the photo selections say a lot about their relationship.

Earlier today, the Prince of Wales shared an Instagram slideshow of himself and his son throughout the decades. This included a black-and-white snapshot that shows a much younger Charles holding a baby William in his arms.

The next pic revealed a slightly older William and his father riding in a ski lift, dressed entirely in snow gear. And the last photo showed the father-son duo all smiles, while Charles gently rested his head on William’s shoulder.

“Wishing The Duke of Cambridge a very happy 40th birthday!” the caption read, alongside a cake and red balloon emoji.

The photos shared are very telling of their close relationship, being that majority of them feature only Charles and William together—without other members of the royal family. There’s only one photo with others present, Charles’s wife Camilla Parker-Bowles and a baby Prince George. They all appear to be standing on the balcony of Buckingham Palace. The final photo in particular, where the pair are smiling brightly, indicates just how much love they have for one another.

Wishing you a very happy birthday, Prince William!
