Is there a more hilarious question than “Fries or salad?” We all know that we should get the salad. But come on. We’re just powerless in the face of a perfect pile of piping-hot, salty wedges of potatoes. Especially when they’re smothered in truffle oil, white sauce or garlic Greek yogurt. Here are six of our favorites in Miami.

Bourbon Steak

The french fries at this swanky Miami steakhouse come in a trio of cups with matching dipping sauces: rosemary-herb fries with spicy ketchup, onion-seasoned fries with chive-onion crème fraîche and smoked paprika fries with homemade barbecue sauce. Every table gets a complimentary order, but we find it hard to stop at just one.

wynwood diner fries

Wynwood Diner

Don’t bother asking for ketchup at this Wynwood joint—these fries are tossed in truffle oil, Parmesan cheese and a dash of salt and pepper. Did we mention they’re showered in a Mornay sauce? That’s French for a white, cheesy drizzle. (Aka heaven.)

lettuce and tomato fries

Lettuce & Tomato

At this North Miami Beach restaurant, a bowl of fries is topped with Serrano ham and two fried eggs. But don’t freak out over the calories, because you get a little workout mixing it all together.

Mandolin Aegean Bistro

We’re pros when it comes to golden strips smothered in truffle oil, salt and pepper. But what about garlic Greek yogurt? Yeah, that’s a thing at this quaint Greek bistro in the Design District.

When indecisiveness strikes, Rok:Brgr is always our go-to. For starters, all fries are hand-cut and made to order. Plain with a pinch of salt and pepper? Done. Truffle? Easy. Sweet potato, poutine or loaded tots? Coming right up. All of the above? We won’t judge.
