3 Ways to Eat Pomegranates
Three cheers for festive fruit.

It's prime pomegranate season, and there are a number of ways to enjoy the antioxidant-rich fruit. Here are a few ideas that go beyond snacking on the seeds. Oh, and check out our quick-and-easy tutorial on how to cut those suckers--you’ll be happily seeding pomegranates in no time.

A simple breakfast Winterize steel-cut oatmeal by topping it with orange slices, pomegranate seeds and maple syrup. (See ya in the summer, blueberries.)

A jazzed-up drink Use pomegranate juice in a smoothie mixed with plain yogurt and bananas. Or, if that sounds boring, top off a glass of Champagne with a shot of POM juice.

A better salad dressing Make vinaigrette by combining pomegranate molasses with red-wine vinegar, Dijon mustard, honey, olive oil, and salt and pepper to taste. Then use it to dress a salad of arugula, pomegranate seeds, toasted walnuts and shaved Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese. (Note: You can find pomegranate molasses at Middle Eastern markets, some specialty grocery stores and online.)
