This Jean Is About to Dethrone Levi’s Wedgie Fit as the Must-Have Style

AGOLDE

Levi’s Wedgie Icon Fit jeans almost single-handedly brought back the beloved mom jean. We willingly cast aside our low-rise J Brands and welcomed in a higher—and, quite frankly, more flattering—rise. (Finally, no more hip-digging waistbands!) We never thought another jean would come along and make us consider abandoning our derriere-lifting Levi’s…until cult-favorite denim brand, Agolde, invented the Pinch Waist Hi Rise Kick jeans.

While it's easy to appreciate the goes-with-everything look of the Levi's, it was pretty obvious that everyone was ready for mom jeans 2.0. After a few seasons of the slightly unflattering denim trend (yeah, we said it!), the itch for a style that felt a little more polished began. As ladylike silhouettes and sharp blazers started infiltrating our closets, it only felt natural to seek out jeans that matched, especially those featuring a more precise cut and a grown-up feel.

Like those beloved Levi’s, the Agolde Pinch Waists have a higher-than-high rise that sits right at the belly button and nips in at the waistline just so (hence the name). But it’s the very slight flare and ankle-grazing crop that really changes the game. Not only does it offer the illusion of looking least four inches taller, but it also enhances natural curves and hugs the body in all the right places. The Agoldes were originally made with 100 percent cotton for that vintage feel, but now the brand makes a few washes with added stretch…just in case that’s a deal breaker.

The Pinch Waist costs just under $200, which is an apt investment for jeans made to be worn all summer with sandals and well into the winter with some suede booties.

Over the past few months, this style has taken off and retailers can barely keep it in stock (ahem, Nordstrom). Meaning? If you see them in your size, you should pounce ASAP, because it might be your only chance.
