My two older sisters introduced me to Aritzia when I was pretty young. From the iconic linen tank tops with a criss-cross back (that I wish I never got rid of) to the vegan leather leggings they continue to make new iterations of, the brand is overflowing with pieces that are both on trend as well as well-constructed, holding up after years and years of wear in your closet. Don’t believe me? My Aritzia blazer carried me through my first job interview, and it's still the workwear piece I gravitate toward more than anything else to this day. So when it was time to review the brand’s pant collection, I was excited to say the least.

Knowing a range of Meghan Markle-approved, effortless styles lay ahead of me, I couldn’t wait to get my butt in the store and into some pants. Here are the five styles that stood out the most to me, along with detailed reviews of their fit and feel.

How I Tested the Aritzia Pants

Despite my love for the brand, I don’t have the same affinity for shopping in-store. For one, the sheer expansiveness of it all reminds me of a Costco warehouse, with multiple sections filled with too much eye candy. Then there’s the dressing room, where Aritzia nixes the personal mirrors, forcing you to step out into the public eye to assess your pieces like a show horse. But the store’s stellar customer service made up for it, making my trip to try on pants worth writing home about.

Not even 30 seconds into the store, and I was flagged down by Matthew, the stylist who made my shopping experience the best I had all day—all year, even. Matthew was friendly, asked all the right questions and practically knew me better than I knew myself the second I said, “I’m usually a size 4, but I know Aritzia tends to run small, so I might be a 6.” I expected two to three sizes of every style in the fitting room, but no; like a dart in the bullseye, I found the one correct size waiting for me. So, I got down to business and started trying them on.

A Breakdown of Aritzia Pants

Before we head to the dressing room to dive into my try-on haul, there are a few things you need to know about Aritzia pants. The brand offers several staple styles in various fabrics, including crepette, linen, sway crepe, (re)fined, twill and wool. For a full breakdown with descriptions of make, feel and stretch, see Aritzia’s tailored pants guide.

There are four fits: Slim, a streamlined, close-to-the-body fit; Classic, with an easy silhouette and more wiggle room; Relaxed, for a looser feel; and Curve-Fit, with 2 extra inches in the hip and 1.5 inches in the thigh, designed to eliminate the dreaded waist gap.

In addition to these pant cuts, Aritzia also sells many of its styles in various heights, from short (for those 5’3” and below), regular (best for people between 5’3” and 5’7”) and tall (for those above 5’7”).

All this to say: When you find a style that really speaks to you, you can order it again and again in different fabrics, cuts, lengths and more to suit your needs. You might be like me, looking for a tall style to wear with high heels, or you may need a regular-length pair of pants for everyday wear. Just remember: If you fall in love with a style in-store or in the guide below, you can likely customize it to your liking by choosing a new print or fabric, a longer inseam or a different size.

My Review of 5 Best-Selling Aritzia Pants, with Dressing Room Photos

  • Size I’m Wearing: S

First up were the Artisan pants, a silky, mid-rise pull-on that felt luxuriously soft and supremely comfortable the second I slipped them on. How can you not be in heaven in pants with a drawcord waistband? They’ll stretch with you, give you room to breathe and feel like pajama pants while you’re at it—but look sleek and not grubby in the slightest, especially since the strings tie into the cutest bows at the hips. Its drapey silhouette makes it look like a million bucks. Pair them with slinky heeled boots and a thick wool sweater in vibrant red or light blue for a head-turning, office-appropriate look.

As one customer notes, the only issue with silk pants is that they can be static-prone: “The fabric is extremely staticky and constantly sticks to my legs, making them uncomfortable and practically impossible to wear. I’ve tried both anti-static spray and hairspray, but nothing works.” My go-to trick to combat static cling in the dry winter months is to lotion my legs and keep them well-moisturized, but keep that in mind when you fall in love with this style.

  • Materials: 87 percent triacetate, 13 percent polyester
  • Size Range: 2XS to XL
  • Colors: 3
  • Fabrics: satin, crepette, cruise linen, twill
  • Size I’m Wearing: 6

It’s always the items you least expect that take your breath away, and for me, that was the Degree Pant from Aritzia. Uncertain about its unconventional barrel-leg silhouette and pleats, I had low expectations—a try-on-and-go, if you will. But this ended up being my favorite pant of the bunch, hands down. They feature a zip fly, hook-and-bar closure and functional pockets, so they’re not just cute; they’ll actually get the job done while you literally get your job done. They were professional yet unbelievably cool, with a style that’s often hard to achieve without a little intentional effort and styling. According to Aritzia, the Japanese Crepette fabric doesn’t wrinkle, which makes it worth investing in. For under $160, I’d call these pants a smart buy.

  • Materials: 100 percent polyester
  • Size Range: 00 to 12
  • Colors: 3
  • Fabrics: crepette
  • Size I’m Wearing: S

Similar to the first pair I tried on (minus the string ties at the hips), the Lodge style is another silky pant you’ll want to wear every day. Don’t believe me? I’m not the only one who thinks so: “These pants fit like a dream, they look classy but feel like PJ’s,” assures one reviewer. Aritzia deems it the “wear-anywhere pant” because it’s a sort of chameleon, if you will, able to dress up with a sexy pair of pumps or down with a vintage-looking, chunky set of Nike V2Ks. “They are my go-to work pants. Comfortable to sit in, non-restricting, cool and airy,” they add.

Best of all, the elastic waistband means you don’t have to fight tooth and nail to get these on. I also appreciate the pockets, because most silk styles at other big brands forgo this major necessity. But if the silk fabric just isn’t scratching your itch, it’s also available in the brand’s beloved crepette style.

  • Materials: 87 percent triacetate, 13 percent polyester
  • Size Range: 2XS to XL
  • Colors: 10
  • Fabrics: Crepette, CruiseLinen, Eversential Light, (Re)fined, Twill
  • Heights: short, regular, tall
  • Size I’m Wearing: 4

The workhorse of the bunch, Aritzia’s Agency pants are “the most amazing and comfortable work pants ever,” as one shopper says. And comfy they are, indeed. They will be with you through thick and thin: board meetings, PTA meetings, weekday errands, Sunday brunch—you name it. They offer a tailored look without actually having to go to the tailor, thanks to their structured fabric, tapered silhouette and thoughtful darting. If I could recommend a classic pair to start with, it’s the Agency pants. The barrel-leg can wait; the silk pants can wait. These are the kind of pants that won’t age, no matter how many years go by and how many trends we roll through.

  • Materials: 68 percent polyester, 28 percent viscose, 4 percent elastane
  • Size Range: 00 to 16
  • Colors: 28
  • Fabrics: Crepette, Eversential
  • Heights: short, regular, tall
  • Size I’m Wearing: 2

When items have a best-selling reputation, I sometimes find they don’t quite earn it—whether that’s because they’re overhyped, too pricey or what have you. But that’s not the case with Aritzia’s “often imitated, never replicated” Effortless pants. Like the aforementioned number, these pants deliver the same casual-yet-polished look and pair well with anything, including knitwear, plain white tees, silky blouses or plaid button-downs. But unlike the previous style, this editor-tested and -approved silhouette doesn’t taper at the leg; instead, it has a flattering, all-over drape and a wide leg that’s sleek yet a little more daring.

What’s more, it has a traditional high waist that “fit[s] me perfectly with no gaping at the waist,” says one shopper with a “round butt.” “I always get compliments from people when I wear them.” Best of all—besides being a compliment magnet—they’re made with wrinkle-free fabric that customers literally swear by. If they came in my usual size, 4 or 6, I would’ve left the store with them. Luckily, I fit into a size 2, so I could show you just how fabulous they are. Still, stick to your usual size for comfort.

  • Materials: 68 percent polyester, 28 percent viscose, 4 percent elastane
  • Size Range: 00 to 16
  • Colors: 20
  • Fabrics: Eversential, Eversential Light, CruiseLinen, PowerLinen, Twill
