Prince Louis’s Birth Certificate Reveals William & Kate’s Official Job Titles

Prince William and Kate Middleton just made an official update to their LinkedIn profiles.

Eight-day-old Prince Louis’s birth certificate was released today, and hilariously, it looks pretty much like our kids’ birth certificates. But there’s one major difference: In the “occupation” portion, William and Kate are listed as the Prince and Princess of the United Kingdom. NBD.

It’s royal tradition for grandsons of a reigning monarch to be called the Prince of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, but K-Middy’s princess title is a relatively new privilege for royal wives. The princess moniker was historically withheld from the wives of British princes, but good ol’ Gan-Gan Queen Elizabeth overturned the dusty rule in 2012 so Kate could have the title alongside William.

Before being an IRL princess, Kate worked as an accessory buyer at the clothing brand Jigsaw, so it’s safe to say her new job title is kind of a step up.

Royals—they’re just like us. (OK, not really.)
