You don’t have to be an equestrian to buy into one of the biggest spring shoe trends: Riding boots.

Far from being limited to just horse-populated pastures and polo fields, the classic riding boot has been popping up all over—from retailers (hello, Hermès and Massimo Dutti) to the runway (a taller version of the classic riding boot was the first to make an appearance during Burberry’s winter 2025 collection last week, signaling a spring start and likely style boom by fall/winter this year).

Even TikTok is talking it up, with a range of style experts and influencers talking about the riding boot as the spring shoe trend they’re most eager to wear. (Yes, you can pair them easily with skinny jeans and a belted blazer, but as temps start to warm, a classic pair also looks chic with an oversize sweater, skirt and bare legs.)

In the royal world, the classic riding boot has long been a popular choice, whether you’re putting feet in the saddle or not. Kate Middleton is synonymous with Penelope Chilvers (the Long Tassel Riding Boots have been her go-to for decades, so much so that she gets a call-out on the brand’s website). The Princess of Wales has worn them a multitude of places over the years, everywhere from royal engagements to royal tours.

And that’s to say nothing of celebs ranging from Meghan Markle to Kylie Jenner, who have also recently been spotted embracing the trend.

From a wearability standpoint, riding boots are as chic as they are practical; They typically come with a low heel and hug the leg snugly with a height that hits just below the knee. They’re also made to last.
