Kate Middleton’s Digital Photography Exhibit Is Officially Live. Here’s How to Check It Out

Five months after Kate Middleton first launched the initiative, her Hold Still virtual exhibit is officially live for the world to see.

Early Monday, the Duchess of Cambridge announced the release of the online photography exhibition, which aims to reflect the feelings of everyone across the United Kingdom amid the current coronavirus pandemic, in a series of Instagram posts. Featuring the final 100 portraits selected from the 31,598 submissions, the pictures are focused on three themes, including Helpers and Heroes, Your New Normal and Acts of Kindness. A handful of images will also be shown in towns and cities around the U.K. in the coming months.

“From virtual birthday parties, handmade rainbows and community clapping to brave NHS staff, resilient keyworkers and people dealing with illness, isolation, and loss. The images convey humor and grief, creativity and kindness, tragedy and hope—expressing and exploring both our shared and individual experiences,” the introduction to the exhibition reads.

Queen Elizabeth wrote a rare personal message to mark the exhibit's launch, writing “The Duchess of Cambridge and I were inspired to see how the photographs have captured the resilience of the British people at such a challenging time, whether that is through celebrating frontline workers, recognizing community spirit or showing the efforts of individuals supporting those in need.”
