The first teaser trailer for the upcoming comedy-biopic, I, Tonya, is here, and while Margot Robbie stars, her ’90s bangs most definitely deserve a supporting actress credit.

The trailer features a montage of clips in which troubled Olympic figure skater Tonya Harding (Robbie) is smoking cigarettes between competitive performances and getting harassed by the press, as well as snippets of clues leading up to the infamous 1994 Nancy Kerrigan scandal that shook the figure-skating world. From perfectly rhinestoned leotards to Farrah Fawcett waves, Robbie looks unrecognizable yet fantastically similar to the then-24-year-old Olympian.

I, Tonya tells the controversial life story of Harding, a former Olympic figure skater whose then-husband, Jeff Gillooly (Sebastian Stan), hired someone to sabotage her biggest competitor, Kerrigan (Caitlin Carver), right before the 1994 Olympic Games. Although Harding insisted she was innocent from the start, she was eventually convicted of hindering the investigation and, in turn, banned from U.S. Figure Skating for life. I, Tonya details her side of the story.

I, Tonya will premiere in select theaters on December 8. In the meantime, we’re checking to see which salons in the area still offer perms.
