For the past year, our quarantine wardrobe has consisted of sweatpants, sweatshirts and—if we’re really feeling fancy—coordinating loungewear sets. The same can’t be said for Mindy Kaling, who’s been flooding her Instagram page with envy-inducing looks that she’s apparently been hiding in her closet (or maybe she’s been incessantly online shopping, just like the rest of them). Here, eight of Kaling’s best quarantine outfits and tips on how to recreate them at home.

6 Swimwear Trends That’ll be Huge For Summer 2021

1. Vibrant Printed Dress + Coordinating Shoes

According to Kaling, when in doubt, wear every color of the rainbow. Although her designer dress comes from Dolce & Gabbana, we found a similar (read: more affordable) version at Venus.

Get the look: Venus bodycon dress ($39); Badgley Mischka pumps ($225)

2. Chiffon + Sandals

Kaling captioned this post, “I tried to add ‘movement’ to this photo to show I was more ‘lifelike.’ We kinda think she nailed it.

Get the look: Eliza J dress ($128); DSW sandal ($90); Zara mini bag ($30)

3. Tropical Print + Heels

Kaling wore another eye-popping Dolce & Gabbana look and accessorized the outfit with neon green heels. It might not be for the faint of heart, but this colorful dress is exactly what we want to wear this summer.

Get the look: Redbubble dress ($73); Aldo high heel ($95)

4. Formal Dress + Clutch

Wondering what the story is behind this Alaïa dress? Kaling put all the details in the caption: “I bought this dress for an event that ended up getting cancelled, I never got to wear it, I think I look pretty in it, please don’t give me a hard time.” SO relatable.

Get the look: Boden dress ($110); Caverly Maple sandal ($180); Rebecca Minkoff clutch ($64)

5. Baseball Cap Bag…need We Say More?

A comfortable ensemble + animal-print shoes + a hat bag = a quarantine dream. We’ll be recreating this to go get a cup of coffee tomorrow morning.

Get the look: Express midi skirt ($88); Shein sweater ($16); Sanita clogs ($108); JW Anderson crossbody bag ($509)

6. Cardigan + Floral Skirt

Kaling revealed that she has to be a little resourceful when it comes to her outfit snaps: “This was an outfit that they didn’t choose for a magazine shoot I did recently, so I snuck a pic of it and am forcing you to see it.”

Get the look: H&M cardigan ($35); A.L.C. maxi skirt ($350); Stuart Weitzman espadrilles ($158)

7. Off-the-shoulder + Tie-dye

You can’t go wrong with an off-the-shoulder maxi dress. (Bonus points for the trendy tie-dye print.)

Get the look: Tie-dye dress ($19); Jeffrey Campbell sandal ($50); Loren Olivia stackable ring set ($15)

8. Monochrome Sweater And Pants + Tan Accessories

It doesn’t matter if your pants aren’t the same exact color as your shirt. As long as they’re in similar shades and different textures, you’ll nail the trendy monochrome effect. Just add neutral accessories, to allow your clothes to soak up the spotlight.

Get the look: GAP turtleneck ($32); Anthropologie pants ($50); Kate Spade satchel ($119); Steve Madden heels ($95)
