This New Skinny-Jeans Trend Is About to Be Everywhere

We’ve seen them cropped, distressed, patterned and dyed every color of the rainbow. So it was pretty surprising to discover a brand-new trend in skinny jeans: corduroy. The classic fall fabric is having a major comeback in general, but corduroy skinny jeans are perhaps the freshest way to rock the trend for 2018 and into the new year. Here are some tips on how to make the look work for you.

The Most Flattering Jeans for Your Body Type

Start With Traditional Hues

Neutral brown and beige tones are the most popular corduroy colors. For some, it’s a ’70s bonfire kind of thing, while for others, it’s more of a back-to-campus vibe. Whichever you like, lean into that classic look with either a billowing embroidered blouse or a preppy argyle sweater.

Get the look: LOFT ($70); Lucky Brand ($90); Pilcro ($98)

Or Go Bright On Bottom, But Neutral Everywhere Else

Deep red skinnies look particularly stylish when worn with a sweater that’s mostly muted, with just a hint of crimson. Finish everything with some tan ankle boots to keep your outfit light and fresh.

Colorblock Like An Adult

Mix and match deep jewel tones like sapphire, turquoise and color of the year topaz yellow for a really rich seasonal look.

Get the look: Lands’ End ($60); Free People ($78); Current/Elliott ($228)

When In Doubt, Reach For Black

The easiest approach? Wear your new favorite skinny cords with a turtleneck tee and black sock boots for a fabulously flattering outfit that’s also 100 percent on-trend.
