Here, all the royal news you need to know for the week of September 30, 2021.

  • Last week, Prince Harry traveled to New York City alongside his wife, Meghan Markle. During a visit to the 9/11 memorial, the Duke of Sussex gave a slight nod to Archie, who was at home in Santa Barbara. As Hello! magazine points out, Prince Harry was carrying a computer case that’s engraved with the phrase: “Archie’s Papa.”
  • On Friday, the Duchess of Cambridge attended a homecoming celebration for Great Britain’s U.S. Open champions, including Joe Salisbury, Alfie Hewitt, Gordon Reid and Grand Slam winner Emma Raducanu. Middleton could hardly contain her excitement when she greeted the athletes. “Amazing, guys. Honestly, congratulations to all of you,” she said. “It’s seriously impressive.”
  • Charles Spencer, Princess Diana’s brother, recently posted an vintage pic of Althorp House, which is his current residence and the teenage home of the Princess of Wales. Spencer captioned the post, “The Old Breakfast Room, at @althorphouse, in 1892 - the year in which my grandfather Jack Spencer was born.”
  • In a recent interview, the Duchess of Cambridge's mother, Carole Middleton, revealed that she felt motivated to start her own company, Party Pieces, because of Kate. (The matriarch's endeavor is a mail-order company that sends themed party supplies right to your doorstep.) Turns out, it was Kate's fifth birthday party that first planted the idea for Party Pieces in Carole's mind.
  • This week, we learned that the Prince of Wales has partnered up with Amazon Prime Video to launch a brand-new channel, which will allow his RE:TV environment programming to reach even more viewers. Curated by Prince Charles, who serves as the editor-in-chief, RE:TV aims to highlight ideas that lead to a more sustainable future.
  • On Wednesday, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took a trip to Northern Ireland and stopped by the Ulster University Magee Campus where they met with some of the nursing students they spoke to virtually earlier this year. For the occasion, the duchess rocked a purple pantsuit from one of her favorite designers, Emilia Wickstead. She topped off the look with a black turtleneck, a black bag and heels.
  • Later in the day, the couple swapped their business attire for athletic ensembles and joined players, coaches and volunteers involved in the Sport Uniting Communities initiative for a variety of physical activities. During the outing, the duke and duchess practiced their football (soccer to us Americans) skills and Prince William even kicked a rugby ball.
  • While Meghan and Harry were in New York City advocating for vaccine equity, Kate Middleton, Prince William and the kids were back in England enjoying the weekend and eating burgers and fries—er, chips. The royal couple was seen last weekend with their dog and three children—Prince George, 8, Princess Charlotte, 6, and Prince Louis, 3,—eating lunch at a pub in Norfolk, England.
