Royal News Roundup: Prince Harry’s New Look, Meghan Markle’s Social Media Plan & *Three* Birthdays

Here, all the royal news you need to know for the week of January 14, 2021.

The Danish royal family recently shared never-before-seen portraits of the twins, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine, in honor of their 10th birthday (and they look like miniature versions of their parents, Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary). The slideshow begins with a colorful shot of the young royals staring directly at the camera. It’s followed by two black-and-white photos, both featuring candid moments.

Looks like Kate Middleton and Prince William may not be headed back to Kensington Palace anytime soon. While we heard rumors back in September that the entire Cambridge clan was packing their bags and getting ready to move back home after the holidays, we recently learned that due to the coronavirus pandemic, they will remain at their Norfolk home, Anmer Hall, where they have remained for the majority of 2020.

  • Last week, Camilla Parker Bowles, 73, sat down for a virtual conversation with Charlie Mackesy, who is the author of the best-selling children’s book The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse. During the interview, the Duchess of Cornwall discussed her newest venture, The Reading Room, which is a virtual book club. The royal also shared details about her childhood hobby, which included drawing pictures of horses.

  • Meghan Markle and Prince Harry apparently have no plans to start a new presence on social media (we’re talking Twitter and Instagram) as part of their new lives in the United States. A source close to the couple recently revealed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have “no plans” to use social media for their new Archewell Foundation and were “very unlikely” to return to platforms in a personal capacity.
  • The Duchess of Sussex can no longer apply for a U.K. citizenship, we learned this week. According to the U.K. government website, the duchess would have had to live in the country for a minimum of three years before applying. Unfortunately, the ex-royal couple decided to move to California before meeting the three-year mark.

  • On Saturday, Kate Middleton celebrated her 39th birthday at her country home of Anmer Hall in Norfolk (due to strict lockdowns in place across the United Kingdom amid the coronavirus pandemic). In honor of the occasion, Prince George, 7, Princess Charlotte, 5, and Prince Louis, 2, threw their mother a birthday tea party. Of course, the tea was prepared by the Duke of Cambridge himself.
  • Members of the royal family made sure to mark Middleton’s special day with heartfelt messages on social media. In their post on Kensington Palace’s official Instagram account, Prince William and Middleton acknowledged the difficulty of celebrating this year. In addition, Clarence House (the office of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles) and the Royal Family (Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip) also sent their well-wishes to the 39-year-old mother of three on IG.
  • Actor Rob Lowe (who also happens to be Harry’s neighbor) recently paid a visit to The Late Late Show With James Corden and revealed to the TV show host that while on his way to the set, he spotted Prince Harry driving in their Montecito neighborhood. According to the actor, the Duke of Sussex is now rocking a ponytail. Hmm...
