Meghan Markle Just Showed Us How to Rock a Smoky Eye Like a Duchess

Meghan Markle is known for her glowing barely there makeup and effortless style. Today, however, she threw caution to the wind and went with a totally out-of-character makeup look.

The 37-year-old Duchess of Sussex arrived at the Endeavour Fund Awards at Draper’s Hall in London, rocking a surprising smoky eye. It was bold, it was chic, it was so un-Meghan.

Although the sultry statement eye was definitely a departure from her beauty norm, Markle kept to her tried and true formula when it came to the rest of her visage. She employed her go-to foundation trick and kept the coverage minimal so that freckles still showed through. The verdict’s out on whether her skin shined because of pregnancy glow or her favorite Laura Mercier Illuminating Primer. Nonetheless, she upped the Markle Sparkle ante with highlighter to accentuate her cheekbones and nose and defined her pout with a dusty rose glossy lipstick. She offset her dark gray smoky eye with a wash of mascara and natural brows.

Markle’s daring beauty look comes just weeks after she donned a rare red lip during the premiere of Cirque du Soleil’s Totem at Royal Albert Hall in London.

The remainder of the expectant duchess’s look stuck to her sleek and tailored signature style. She pulled her hair back in a tight bun with a middle part and literally zero flyaways. As for her outfit, she went for a fashion throwback and donned a white Givenchy button-down reminiscent of her 2017 Invictus Games look (aka the first time she and Prince Harry stepped out together). She also added an unexpected flair with black and gold statement mules and a black silk wrap skirt with a subtle thigh-high slit.

What bold beauty look is next for Markle? We can’t wait to find out.
