Meghan Markle's Latest Royal Rewear Holds a Very Special Meaning

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry had a jam-packed schedule of engagements on their final day of the royal tour of Africa. Their last stop saw the Sussexes meet with Nelson Mandela's widow, Mrs. Graça Machel, in Johannesburg, and Markle picked a special royal rewear for the occasion.

The duchess wore her House of Nonie dusty pink trench dress with beige heels and styled her hair in a low bun, an outfit that is nearly identical to the one she wore when the couple attended an exhibition marking the centenary of Nelson Mandela's birth in London in July 2018.

Markle's gesture to honor the widow of the South African anti-apartheid revolutionary by her wardrobe choices for the day didn't go unnoticed.

“I’m honored she chose to wear the sleeveless trench dress again and it’s amazing to know she keeps this piece in her closet as a staple. She styled the garment very similar to the first appearance, looking effortlessly chic for her last day in South Africa!” Nina Kharey, founder and creative director of Canadian-founded brand Nonie, told People.

Later in the day, both Harry and Markle gave final speeches to the crowd gathered at the Creative Industries and Business Reception in the garden of the official residence of the British High Commissioner.

Over 300 guests attended to celebrate the U.K. and South Africa’s important business and investment relationship, according to The Daily Mail.

When Mandela's widow, Machal, met Markle, she said, "It's wonderful meeting you. I'm sure we're going to be working together in the future. I can feel the vibe."

Perhaps she sensed the vibes of Markle's sartorial sentiments? Never underestimate the power of a meaningful outfit choice.
