Meghan Markle Due Date: ‘We’re Nearly There!’

Just us, or is Baby Sussex already the most popular royal?

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s first child is due any day now, and we can’t stop refreshing our Twitter (sorry, boss). While reports surfaced on April 26 of an ambulance arriving at Frogmore Cottage, they were quickly debunked on Twitter.

“NB Ambulance spotted near Frogmore Cottage yesterday is a driver training vehicle picking up food for students while out and about all day, according to South Central Ambulance Service. Keep calm tweeps. It could be another few days yet,” a royals reporter for The Telegraph tweeted on Friday.

Case closed, right? OR could the food pickup vehicle be a disguise? (Yeah, we need to slow down on the coffee intake.)

We do know that Markle may have a home birth, though, and that she’s very close to going into labor (so submit your last-minute baby name predictions stat). Buckingham Palace released a statement in mid-April: “Their Royal Highnesses have taken a personal decision to keep the plans around the arrival of their baby private. The Duke and Duchess look forward to sharing the exciting news with everyone once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family.”

Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland, reportedly arrived in London on April 22 to be there for her daughter as she gives birth, and is expected to stay with the Sussexes in their new home of Frogmore for the first few months after the newborn arrives. The child will be seventh in line to the throne and could possibly run for president (NBD).

In March, the Duchess of Sussex, 37, attended a reception at Buckingham Palace in honor of the 50th anniversary of Prince Charles’s investiture (aka bestowment) as the Prince of Wales. While there, Markle spotted a guest she met at a previous event and joked about her growing baby bump. “A bit different than when I saw you last,” she said, according to Harper’s Bazaar

When Alun Cairns, the secretary of state for Wales, asked if everything is “in good order,” the duchess thanked him before gushing over her upcoming due date, adding, “No, it’s actually very sweet. It’s a nurturing thing to ask. We’re nearly there!”

Back in October, Prince Harry and Markle announced they’re pregnant with their first child, who is expected to arrive in late April or early May 2019. Although it will be their first venture into parenthood, the 34-year-old prince seems pretty confident.

In fact, Harry chatted with reporters during the reception and revealed that he wants two children with Markle, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves, Henry…

The countdown continues!

And the Royal Godparents for Prince Harry & Meghan Markle’s Baby Are…
