Meghan Markle Just Wore a Pair of Comfy but Trendy Shoes (and They're Under $150)

It's no secret that high heels are simply not conducive to every occasion. Yes, even if you’re a royal (or ex-royal). So, for her latest engagement, we love to see that Meghan Markle went for a pair of kicks that are far more casual.

On Monday, the Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry made a surprise appearance at the Preschool Learning Center in Los Angeles to volunteer in the organization's garden. During the event, which takes place every year, the couple joined children in replanting flowers and healthy foods.

The Assistance League of Los Angeles, which runs the learning center, shared a slideshow from the event featuring the duo getting their hands dirty (quite literally). “In addition to helping the children replant the Preschool Learning Center's garden, they spent time with them, sharing their appreciation for nature and helping to instill the importance of healthy eating,” part of the caption read. “We truly appreciate their time and care for our students.”

In a totally smart move, the 39-year-old royal opted for a pair of flats for the occasion. Not only was this decision one of optimal comfort, but it’s also totally on-trend. With fall just around the corner, flats are currently a popular choice of footwear throughout the women of Hollywood. This includes fashion icon Bella Hadid, who recently stepped out in a pair of jeans and penny loafers.

Markle has long been a fan of flats, especially environmentally sustainable ones. For this event, she opted for Rothy's The Black Point flat ($145). Luckily, they are still available online.

We love flats season.
