Royal Rebel: Meghan Markle Is the First Duchess to Wear *This* Accessory

While applauded for their prim style and perfect poise, royals aren't typically known to push the style envelope, so to speak (save for queens in shorts, of course).

But Meghan Markle is changing all that—this, we know. And the duchess just pushed the monarchy into modernity again on Thursday, when she wore a pair of crawler earrings during a visit to one of her new patronages, Smart Works.

The accessory has never been worn by a royal at a public engagement before (that we know of) mainly due to the fact that they've only recently become a big jewelry trend.

The bling, by ethical jewelry line Kimaï, are called the "Felicity" earrings ($402). The three dangles, which appear like three separate earrings, are actually attached to the one earring bar. The lab-sourced diamonds are set in 18K gold.

More funky fashion choices from the daring duchess in 2019: We're so *ear* for it.
