Meghan Markle Is in Talks with Community Leaders About How She Can Best Support Black Lives Matter

Just because Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down as senior royals doesn’t mean they no longer give back to the community.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are reportedly doing their part in supporting the Black Lives Matter movement in the wake of George Floyd’s death. According to People magazine, they’re currently in talks with community leaders about how to best use their platform for the greater good.

“They are holding calls with community leaders and organizations but are doing that privately as they continue to see how they can play a role. But they also want to learn and talk about it like the rest of us,” a source told the outlet.

We don’t know what this entails, but it could mean more public outings for the semi-private couple. We wouldn’t be surprised if there’s some sort of charity element, especially since Prince Harry and Markle recently teamed up with Project Angel Food to deliver free meals to people suffering from serious illnesses.

The news comes just a few days after Markle filmed a surprise commencement speech for her alma mater, Immaculate Heart High School. During the address, the duchess encouraged the graduates to be voices of change during these uncertain times.

“I wasn’t sure what I could say to you. I wanted to say the right thing, and I was really nervous that I wouldn’t, or that it would get picked apart,” Markle said. “And I realized the only wrong thing to say is to say nothing because George Floyd’s life mattered and Breonna Taylor’s life mattered and Philando Castile’s life mattered and Tamir Rice’s life mattered, and so did so many other people whose names we know and whose names we do not know.”

Just call her Duchess of Making a Difference.
