We all know that one colleague who is constantly tapping her pen against the desk or swiveling around in her chair—truthfully, it can be distracting (OK, totally annoying) to watch her. But it turns out that her frequent fidgeting is actually keeping her healthy.
In fact, a recent study conducted at the University of Missouri shows that people who move around more are less likely to develop cardiovascular disease. The mini movements provide a significant increase in blood flow to the limbs.
Of course, this is no substitute for standing or getting up to stretch, but it’s definitely an incentive to get tapping.
