Serena Williams Celebrates Daughter Olympia’s 2nd Birthday with a Rare Throwback Photo

Serena Williams just celebrated her daughter’s 2nd birthday on Instagram, and her caption will make every parent say, “Same.”

On Sunday, the 37-year-old professional tennis player paid tribute to her daughter, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. Williams shared a throwback photo of herself cradling the newborn just moments after she gave birth, while her husband, Alexis Ohanian, kisses her forehead.

She captioned the post, “The last two years have been my greatest accomplishment.”

The proud dad also celebrated his daughter’s birthday on Instagram. The Reddit founder, 36, shared a photo from the day Olympia was born—but this time, the pic shows the family’s hands.

He wrote, “How has it already been two years? Happy cake day @olympiaohanian. Thank you for being the greatest thing we've ever done. And thank you for teaching me that every parent in the US deserves those first months with their newborn. I’m a better business leader because of it. #PaidFamilyLeave.”

The posts might surprise some fans, since Williams previously revealed that they don’t celebrate birthdays due to their faith. According to E! News, the athlete confirmed the news during a press conference last year, saying, “Olympia doesn’t celebrate birthdays. We’re Jehovah’s Witnesses, so we don’t do that.”

However, that doesn’t mean the family can’t celebrate. Back in February, Williams threw little Olympia a carnival-themed party just for the hell of it. “I wanted to just do something fun because we don’t do birthdays,” she said.

Party or no party, we have no doubt it was a birthday to remember.
